MENINGOCOCCAL SOUTHERN SCARE

About 80% of students at two Balclutha schools have received a course of antibiotics following an outbreak of group C meningococcal disease.

There have been six confirmed cases of meningococcal disease at Roseback Primary School and South Otago High School recently.

South Otago High School students and teachers are being offered vaccinations, and both the antibiotic and vaccination programmes may be extended if necessary.
