7 December 2001 News Update

EMPTY PROMISES

The Government is dreaming if it thinks it can fix the underfunding crisis it has created in health in next year's budget, says National health spokesperson Roger Sowry.

He says the Government has left health as its lowest funding priority.

"The reason the health system is in such turmoil now is because the Government has underfunded health since the day it was elected. At the same time Annette King won't take any responsibility for her underfunding of district health boards and radiotherapy services."

New Zealanders still haven't seen any of the $500 million tax grab tagged for better health and education services back in 1999, says Roger Sowry.
