Pharmacy Council supports financial compensation for Pacific Atenolol recall

The Pharmacy Council has come out in support of pharmacists being financial compensated for the Pacific Atenolol recall.

In an official statement council chair Carolyn Oakley-Brown says during recalls the over-riding concern must be patient safety.

“Pharmacists are ethically and professionally obliged to participate in medicines recalls, regardless of any other consideration.

“The council recognises, however, that the current patient level recall of Pacific Atenolol is one of a recent spate of recalls which impose a considerable burden on pharmacists, and the council supports pharmacists in seeking adequate financial compensation for their input.”

Mark Bedford Friday, June 11, 2010 It's a shame the headline (which was not part of the press release) doesn't reflect the prime reason for the press release ie:the over-riding concern is patient safety
