New Pharmacy Defence Association website launched
08 July 2010
A new website featuring case studies of prescription errors has been launched by the Pharmacy Defence Association.
The website, www.pda.org.nz, was updated as part of a rebranding exercise, says association executive officer Carolyn Hooper.
Ms Hooper says the site is now easier to use and features a member’s only section, MyPDA.
This section offers information tailored for pharmacists, including several case studies of prescription errors. In one case, a prescription for folinic acid was filled with folic acid, she says.
Ms Hooper says the aim of featuring these cases studies is to help other pharmacists avoid making the same mistakes.
“We’re using the situations as a preventative measure to stop someone else going down that path,” she says.
Other features include travel insurance information and resources such as claims and notification tools.
The Pharmacy Defence Association is a non-profit, pharmacist support organisation. Membership is designed to provide assistance to pharmacists in the event of professional indemnity, public liability and statutory liability claims.
